About the Recipe
Seitan is one of those "vegan products" that often has everyone scratching their heads. However, it is super high in protein and - because it is mixed with nutritional yeast - it is a complete protein. Amazingly, the combination of flavours here makes it taste like smoked ham!
Ingredients
300g wheat gluten flour
15g nutritional yeast
4 tsp smoked paprika
3 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp bouillon / stock powder
300ml boiling water
30ml dark soy sauce
30ml white wine vinegar
Squirt of tomato purée

Preparation
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl or blender
Add wet ingredients and stir or blend on low speed
When combined, take out of bowl and knead for about 1 minute
Roll into a large sausage shape and wrap in tin foil
Put in oven at 160C (fan) for 45 minutes
Once cooked, allow to cool then cut into chunks or slices to serve!
